Internal Transfer Guide

Transfer funds between your Spot and Perp accounts on the same DEX instantly with no fees.

What is Internal Transfer?​

Internal transfer allows you to move funds between your Spot and Perp balances within the same DEX. This is useful when you want to:

  • Move funds from Spot to Perp for leveraged trading
  • Move funds from Perp to Spot for spot trading or holding
  • Rebalance your portfolio allocation

No Fees: Internal transfers are instant and free. No blockchain transaction required.

How to Transfer​

Step 1: Open Transfer Modal​

Click the Perps ⇄ Spot button in the Portfolio page header.

Step 2: Select DEX​

Choose which DEX to transfer funds on:

  • Hyperliquid: Transfer USDC between accounts
  • Aster: Transfer USDT between accounts
  • Lighter: Transfer USDC between accounts

Step 3: Select Transfer Direction​

Click the direction toggle to switch between:

  • Spot → Perp: Transfer from Spot balance to Perp balance
  • Perp → Spot: Transfer from Perp balance to Spot balance

The toggle shows which direction is currently selected. Click to reverse.

Step 4: Enter Amount​

Enter the amount to transfer. Your current balances for both Spot and Perp are displayed.

Click MAX to transfer your entire available balance from the source account.

Step 5: Confirm Transfer​

Click Confirm Transfer to execute the transfer.

The transfer completes instantly and your balances update immediately.

Transfer by DEX​

Hyperliquid Internal Transfer​

Token: USDC

Accounts: Spot ⇄ Perp

Speed: Instant

Fee: Free

Process: Uses Hyperliquid's internal transfer function to move USDC between your Spot and Perp balances on Hyperliquid.

Aster Internal Transfer​

Token: USDT

Accounts: Spot ⇄ Perp

Speed: Instant

Fee: Free

Process: Uses Aster's internal transfer API to move USDT between your Spot and Perp balances on Aster.

Lighter Internal Transfer​

Token: USDC

Accounts: Spot ⇄ Perp

Speed: Instant

Fee: Free

Process: Uses Lighter's internal transfer function to move USDC between your Spot and Perp balances on Lighter.

Note: Lighter only supports Perp trading, so Spot balance is primarily for holding USDC.

Important Notes​

Same DEX Only: Internal transfers only work within the same DEX. To move funds between different DEXs, you must withdraw from one and deposit to another.

Instant Execution: Transfers complete immediately with no blockchain transaction required.

No Fees: Internal transfers are completely free. No gas fees or platform fees.

Instant and Free: All internal transfers are instant and completely free with no setup required.

Available Balance: You can only transfer your available balance. Funds locked in open orders or positions cannot be transferred.

Use Cases​

Start Leveraged Trading: Transfer USDC/USDT from Spot to Perp to begin perpetual trading with leverage.

Take Profits: Transfer profits from Perp to Spot to secure gains without withdrawing.

Rebalance Portfolio: Adjust allocation between Spot holdings and Perp trading positions.

Prepare for Withdrawal: Transfer funds from Perp to Spot before withdrawing (some DEXs may require this).

Troubleshooting​

Transfer Failed: Check that you have sufficient available balance in the source account.

Insufficient Balance: The amount you're trying to transfer exceeds your available balance. Reduce the amount or close positions/orders to free up funds.

Balance Not Updating: Refresh the page. Internal transfers are instant but the UI may need to refresh to show updated balances.
